If it’s too small, your pump will have to run more than necessary and the motor will experience more wear and tear, decreasing the pump’s lifespan.
A few other factors that will affect your pump’s longevity are the height of your water table, the amount of sediment in your water, the quality of your pump’s motor, and the level of maintenance your well pump receives.
